Weekly Services

Heinz Memorial Chapel is non-denominational and any of the University of Pittsburgh's religious groups may hold services here. Below is our schedule for the summer and fall terms.
If you are a Pitt religious group interested in holding a service here, please email heinzchapel@pitt.edu.

Sundays at 5 PM: Lutheran Worship Service
PSALM (Pittsburgh Students Active in Lutheran Ministry) and Lutheran Campus Ministry in Greater Pittsburgh welcome all who would like to join in our worship services in Heinz Chapel. We celebrate weekly communion, sing hymns and seek to live out God's radical hospitality. For more information, please see our website www.psalm.online, email pastor@psalm.online, or call (412) 682-6886.
Services begin for the spring 2024 term on January 7 and end on April 28. There will not be service on March 10 or 17 or April 7.
There will be an Ash Wednesday service on February 14 at 12:15 PM and a Good Friday service on March 29 at noon.

Sundays at 8 PM: Compline
This contemplative service is almost entirely sung by the Pittsburgh Compline Choir. Traditionally, one or more of the Psalms associated with Compline are sung or chanted by the choir. Before the service, the congregation is invited to submit names of persons in need or persons who have died to be chanted as part of the evening prayers. The service reaches back to the time of an undivided Christendom and resonates with people from widely different faith traditions. Music from the last 1000 years is offered by a dedicated choir made up of students and community members. Compline has been offered at Heinz Chapel by the Pittsburgh Compline Choir for over 30 years. For more information, visit www.pghcompline.com.
Services begin for the spring 2024 term on January 14 and end on April 28.

1st & 3rd Thursdays at 8:30 PM: Coptic Orthodox Tasbeha (Midnight Praises)
COYA, or the Coptic Orthodox Youth Association is dedicated to building Christian fellowship through the teachings of the Orthodox faith. The Coptic Church is almost 2,000 years old and draws its roots back to Egypt. The word "tasbeha" means praise and it refers to the collection of praises prayed in preparation for the liturgy. In the Coptic tradition, 4 "hoos" or "biblical hymns" are sung directly from the Bible followed by explanations, commemoration of the saints and more. All are welcome! To find out more, email coyacopts@gmail.com or follow our Instagram, @coya_pitt.
Services begin for the spring 2024 term on January 18 and end on April 18. Services take place the first and third Thursday of each month.
